Some parents have their children’s name picked out before the child is born. But if you and your partner and stuck over choices and need some advice then I am here to help. I have put together some Top Tips For Choosing A Baby Name.
Three Letters
Three letter names have become very popular in recent years, and I can totally see why. They can be so sweet, simple and beautiful.
Names like Ava, Ben, Amy Max, Sam to name a few have been on the rise in the last few years.
Gaelic
Irish names are very popular and always have a lovely meaning behind them. But there is one thing to think about when choosing an Irish name. Will they have issues with the rest of their lives with people trying to pronounce it? Some example would be Caoimhe, Siobhan or Oisin.
Nicknames
A lot of names have a short or long version, or associated nicknames. Just make sure you have considered the options and are happy with both the long and short version of your child’s name. A couple of examples would be Rob/Bob for Robert, Katie for Katherine, Jessie for Jessica or Nicky for Nicholas to name just a few.
Celebrity
There is nothing wrong with naming your child after a celebrity but I strongly recommend having a good think about it. They might be in the good books now and have fame for the right reasons but it can easily go bad and your child is now stuck with a name of a person with a terrible reputation.
We hope this gives you a little help in getting ideas flowing for a baby name.
We would love to hear what you chose so make sure to let us know! xx
