So you have decided to host a baby shower for the Mum to be in your life here’s my top ten tips for organising the perfect baby shower!
1 – Surprise or not?
Is the baby shower going to be a surprise for the mum to be or will she be involved in the plans?
2 – Who’s invited?
Decide on your guest list. If the mum us to know about the shower; ask her if there is anyone she would like invited.
3 – When is it happening?
Will the party be in the evening or at lunchtime? Organise it for at least 4 weeks before mum to be’s due date!
4 – Where’s the party?
Confirm the Venue! The host usually has the baby shower in their home so the mum to be doesn’t have to worry about cleaning up If you are tight on space or logistically it makes more sense for people travelling, why not suggest an early bird or lunch special at the mum to be’s favourite restaurant?
5 – Send out the invites?
Think about who’s coming to determine how you are going to send invites. Would a tradition invite in the post work better or an e-invite to all guests? Don’t forget to include RSVP info.
6 – Themes & Decorations
Decide upon a theme for your decorations, pink, blue or lemon? Cute lambs, baby clothes or Owls are all really popular now. Check out www.babyshower.ie for a full selection! Don’t forget the favours these add a nice touch to a baby shower to say thank you to guests.
7 – Food Glorious food!
If the baby shower is happening at home you need to think about what food and drinks you are going to serve. Will you serve a buffet, ‘one pot’ hot food, or cream teas? If having wine or champagne don’t forget to include some non-alcoholic options and always have plenty of tea, coffee and soft drinks on hand.
8 – Gifts or not?
Baby Showers have traditionally been a time to shower the mum to be with gifts but some mums to be preferred to just ask for your presence. If you don’t want to arrive empty handed why not bring a little something with you like baby wipes, a pack of nappies or bibs?
9 – Lots of fun!
Decide what type of games you are going to play at the baby shower. Even if some of the guests don’t know each other its always a great icebreaker to have a few games to get everyone talking. Check out www.babyshower.ie for lots of games and FREE game ideas!
10 – Enjoy, have fun and create memories
On the day itself you will so busy running around getting everything ready and even though its all about the mum to be, don’t forget to enjoy yourself too. You are creating such a special day for the mum to be, one she will treasure and remember forever so remember you did that!
