Small Baby Shower
Does the mum-to-be hate the thought of a big party just for her? Check out our tips on how to host a Small Baby Shower that she is sure to love.
Venue
Hosting a small baby shower in your own home rather than a separate venue would be a great idea. This way the mum-to-be will feel comfortable in her surroundings. As she will be in a familiar place and away from the crowds she will hopefully be able to relax and have fun. Designate one room in your house, such as the sitting room, to host the party. Decorate the room according to whether she is having a boy or girl. If she is keeping it a secret until the big day, yellow is always a good alternative. The main thing to remember with this baby shower is to keep everything minimalist. If she hates the thought of a big party then she probably hates the thought of too much fuss. Saying that, we are sure she will appreciate the effort you went to for her.
Side note: if the expectant mother is not a fan of big parties then she may not be a fan of surprise parties either. Make sure that she is kept in the loop at all times to avoid any unnecessary stress.
Guest List
Keep the guest list small for this baby shower. Invite only family members and friends who are really close to the new mum. A good idea might be to ask her exactly who she wants to invite. This will help her relax and enjoy herself on the day. A small guest list also puts pressure of the host and the mum-to-be. The host has less people to attend to and the mum-to-be will be able to spend time with everyone. There is nothing worse than not being able to chat to everyone because the crowd was too big. It may also be a good idea to inform the guests that the new mum wants a small and low key party. This should ensure that no one brings a plus one or any surprises that might make her feel uncomfortable.
Activity
If the mum-to-be would like to do something fun outside of the house, why not plan an activity that everyone can enjoy. Afternoon tea is always a winner! This activity allows guests to sit down in a beautiful tea room, eat and drink tasty treats and celebrate the lady of the moment. Perfect! If you really want to spoil her, take her to get a mani pedi. A mani pedi is a simple way to make her feel pampered and loved. Plus, she might not be able to reach her toes at the moment…. That is one less job she has to worry about!
Games
Whether you host this baby shower in your own home or at another venue, games are a great idea. We have some fun games here on babyshower.ie including blindfolded nappy changing, dear baby and guess the bump size. Each of these games are super simple to play and we guarantee the mum-to-be will have tons of fun. A game is also a great way to help her relax if she feels uncomfortable on the day. She is sure to be laughing her head off! Laughter cures all 😉
So if the expectant mother hates the thought of a big fuss being made about her baby shower, throw her a small party. This way she can celebrate this special occasion with close friends and family. Perfect.
