Cat in the Hat theme

Start off with some amazing Dr. Suess inspired invitations. Maybe with a message that rhymes?! Something to the tune of, “The bump that’s in Aoife, believe us – it grew! So we are sending this invitation to you, to the shower we are throwing, before baby is due!” Make sure to use that iconic light blue, red and white colour palette!

Wondering what you might serve? Fishbowls! Everyone remembers the fish from those Dr.Suess books right? Get some round plastic containers and fill with orange fish shaped biscuits. Choose a simple biscuit recipe and get some fishy cookie cutters. Ice with orange icing and you are good to go! The orange will really pop against the colour scheme!

Also some Cat in the Hat Marshmallow pops would be great! Snip the tops and ends off some strawberries and pop them onto a skewer, alternating with marshmallows. Quick and simple!

Lets not forget the ‘green eggs and ham’. Hard boil a few eggs and gently crack the shells without removing them. Put the eggs in a container full of green food dye and water for a few hours. When you remove the shell the eggs will be green! Finally, serve with ham! 

Play some tongue Twisters at your Cat in the Hat themed baby shower. Dr. Suess is famed for his use of rhyme and turns of phrase. Why not challenge your guests to a few tongue twisters!? Write a few out on pieces of paper and put into a large red and white striped hat. Pass the hat around and allow each guest to select a card. They must say the tongue twister perfectly once and then five times fast. If they make a mistake they are out! The winner must be able to say all of the tongue twisters in the hat!
